So Nice To Meet You!

I don’t really know how clear my cognition is right now because I have been awestruck for a few hours following a conversation with my “pregnant-and-ready-to-deliver-at-any-time-now,” daughter Grace.

After a talk on the phone for about 15 minutes, she signed off by ending the conversation regarding her baby to be with, “…and Dad, I can’t wait to meet him!”

I tried to wind up the phone call asap after her remark because I had a terrible time holding my composure and couldn’t talk anymore, let alone listen.
I was completely tearful.

Since then tonight, I’ve been overwhelmed by her comment. The anticipation of little Sullivan’s arrival any day now by his mother… even though she has been solidifying her relationship with him the past 40 weeks, she can’t wait to touch him and keep him just as warm and secure on the outside as was in. And her longing of wanting to begin the task of mothering, protecting, teaching, guiding, supervising, shielding, defending, pampering and nursing him – such humanly natural and delightfully spiritual mommy needs. I’m awestruck.

To my, my, my sweet daughter, Grace… ALL the brief flashes with him that you will need to cherish as the future moments surrounding those flashes fleet away.

Please, Grace, treasure the minute you set eyes on him while holding him outside your womb for the very first time. Only God knows the passage to come of all those treasured moments with Sullivan.

I hope and pray that those treasures last so splendidly on earth as long as you do. Because, in that way, you will not only get to MEET him, but encounter his very being… ONLY IF YOU HAVEN’T ALREADY!

I love you my sweet daughter and mommy-to-be,
“PapPap”

P. S. I can’t wait to meet him, too.

Caleb and Grace (Underwood) Sowers met Sullivan George Sowers the evening of February 11, 2018.

He was 8lb, 3 oz. and 20 inches long. He is a little red-headed miracle.
