Warren Harding Hayes, born November 4, 1920, died December 5, 2016 at Memorial Gables in Marysville, Ohio. He was born in Dodridge County West Virginia and graduated from Parkersburg High School. He enlisted in the US Army in 1939, served in WWII, the Korean Conflict and the Army Reserves. He was discharged November 4, 1980 as a Major.
Warren graduated from Otterbein College in Westerville, Ohio with a bachelor in science. He was employed by The Nestle Company, worked in the laboratories in Marysville and the home office in White Plains, New York. He retired in 1987 after 35 years.
He was a member of Church of Messiah UM in Westerville and an Elder in The Presbyterian Church USA. In retirement, he enjoyed golfing and volunteered at St. Ann’s Hospital in Westerville more than twenty years.
He was preceded in death by parents, William and Grace Merrill Hayes, three brothers, William, Robert and Richard; and a sister, Margaret. He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Hazel Brehm Hayes; his son, Mark (Rita) Hayes of Marysville; his daughter, Louise (Gianpiero) Ruggeri of Tampa, Florida; his grandchildren, Alexander (Cheryl) Hayes, Leah Hayes and Ilena Ruggeri; many nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends. The family will hold private services. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of choice. Underwood Funeral Home is assisting the family.
