Walter Mitchell “Mitch” Staley, III, 73, of Marysville, died Wednesday, December 5, 2012 at Monterey Care Center in Grove City. He was a dedicated Christian and offered of himself to others with a giving heart. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, tenderness and thoughtfulness. He was a big Ohio State University Buckeyes fan. He was born July 28, 1939 in Allen Township, Union County. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Mitchell Staley, Jr. and Ruby Bennett Staley Craig and a daughter, Angela Kay Staley. He is survived by his children, Michael (Rose) Staley of Florida, Myra (Duane) Bennett of Springfield, Tonya Thompson of Webbville, KY and Trina (Garrold) Boggs of Columbus; nine grandchildren, MacKenzie, Jasmine, Richard (Amanda), Shawn, Siera, Kayla, Nicholas, Seth and Kirsten; two great grandchildren, Valerie and Aiden; a sister, Louella “Kay” Alexander of Marysville; a niece, Darcy Alexander; a nephew, Mark (Jane) Alexander; and many other relatives and friends, including Joanne Staley Lyon, Todd Shoemaker and Judy Clevenger. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Underwood Funeral Home where the family will receive friends beginning at 11 a.m. Pastor Jeremy Stout will officiate and burial will be at Oakdale Cemetery.
