Walter A. Leach, age 68 of Milford Center, died Monday, April 25, 2016 at Zusman Hospice House at Wexner Heritage Village in Bexley. A veteran of the Vietnam War, he retired from the United States Air Force in 1988 after serving more than 20 years. A lifetime “student” of war, he was passionate about military history. He was a life member of the NRA and was a staunch supporter of the Second Amendment. He was deeply devoted to his wife, his career and his pet dogs, Kaiser and Shadow. He was born December 5, 1947 in Brownsville, Texas to the late John Milton and Rosa Sanchez Leach. He was also preceded in death by two aunts, Conchita Bobbitt and Carmen Stegman; and an uncle, Anthony Sanchez. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Annie L. Ming Leach, whom he married January 22, 1971 in Andulasia, Alabama; a sister, Barbara Nola; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Thomas (Amanda) Ming, William (Barbara) Ming, June Helms, Helen Helms, Margaret Jennings, Martha Fisher, Shirley Miller, Judy Ming and Polly Marmon; and many nieces and nephews and other relatives, including special nieces, Miriah Smith and Kimberly Fisher. The family will receive friends 3 to 5 p.m. Friday at Underwood Funeral Home where a memorial gathering with military honors will be held at 5 p.m. Private interment will be held at a later date in Brownsville, Texas.
