Thelma M Stanley

Thelma Marie Smith Stanley, age 87, a longtime resident of Marysville, died Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at The Gables at Green Pastures following a short illness. A secretary for agricultural agencies for many years, she retired from Agristor in 1988 and then continued working at Ohio Seed Improvement Association during retirement. She was a member of Marysville First United Methodist Church. A graduate of Urbana High School, she was a former member of OCCL Mother’s Study Club and enjoyed playing bridge and euchre. A lover of the Lawrence Welk show, she became a “Welknote” fan club member. Above all, she was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was born October 20, 1925 in Springfield, Ohio to the late Amasa T. and Lulu Blackman Smith. She was also predeceased by a sister, Beulah Nogle, a brother, Thomas Smith, a niece, Nancy Slonecker and her former husband, Frank Stanley. She is survived by four children, Robert (Jackie) Stanley of Winter Harbor, ME, Ann (Glenn) McCollum of Lebanon, Philip (Patty) Stanley of Logan and Marilyn (Jim) Lockwood of Marysville; twelve grandchildren, Lorinda (Duane) Joy, Robert “Bo” (Hazel) Stanley, Aaron (Karen) Boggs, Katherine (Mike) Davis, Michael Stanley, Christa (Drew) Brayfield, Travis (Kristina) Parmenter, Kyle (Barb) Douglas, Jason (Mandy) Lockwood, April (David) Brisch, Heather (Tyler) Neeriemer and Justin McCollum; 20 great grandchildren, Alexandria, Brailee, Marco, Magno, Oscar, Estella, Cline, Cora, Maggie, Shaun, Mickaela, Mason, Abigail, Alexis, Jaden, Addison, Chloe, Karline, Vivian and Michael; four brothers, Adam Smith, Charles Smith, James Smith and William (Jeannine) Smith; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at Underwood Funeral Home where a memorial gathering will be held at the conclusion of the calling hours.
