Ruth Ann Moore Ropp, age 88, a life resident of Marysville, died Monday, December 28, 2020 at The Ohio State University Medical Center following a brief illness. Known to her family and friends as a woman with “a heart of gold,” she was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother, God-mother and friend. She and her late husband, Dave, owned and operated Dave’s Auto Glass for over 30 years. Ruth Ann also served as a longtime bartender and club hostess at the Marysville Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge No. 1130 and was a former desk clerk at U-Co Lanes. A 1950 graduate of Marysville High School, she was a former Marysville school bus driver and worked for a short time at United Telephone Company and at O.M. Scott and Sons. Of the Methodist faith, she attended Marysville Friends Church. She enjoyed league bowling and taught junior bowling with her late sister-in-law, Annie Moore. She loved playing euchre and poker and participated with The Red Hat Society. Ruth Ann was also a member of Memorial Hospital Auxiliary Twig 6. Aside from her club duties at the Elks Lodge, she also was an active member of the Elkettes. For many years, she was a member of the Marysville Moose and Eagles lodges. A member of Community And Seasoned Citizens, she will be remembered as a wonderful cook, enjoyed traveling and crocheting and was a volunteer at the Union County Fair. She was born July 26, 1932 in Marysville to the late John and Bertha Stevenson Moore. She was also preceded in death in 1992 by her husband of 41 years, David C. Ropp; three brothers, John Moore, Walter Moore and William “Bill” Moore; a son-in-law, Elmer Keene; and two great-grandsons, Michael Andrews, II and Aaron Humble. She is survived by her children, Davene Keene, John C. Ropp and Larry (Crystal) Ropp, all of Marysville; her grandchildren, Billie Jo (Everett) Humble, John David Ropp, Michelle (Arron) Reed, Joshua (Lori) Ropp, David (Amanda) Ropp, Michael Ropp, Jacob Ropp and Elmer D. Keene; her great-grandchildren, Blake (Forrest), April (Jason), Seth, Zach, Ethan, Ashton, Brenton, Mickaela, Chase, Caitlynn, Olivia, Elijah, Jonah, Mackenzie, Taylin, Kaleb, Isaiah and Keeli; her great-great grandchildren, Autumn, JJ, Faith, Greyson and Amelia; her sister, Mary (Jack) Jenkins of Columbus; two God-children, Tony Marie Teeter and Bill Myers; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and special friends, including James Richard “Dick” Holbrook. The family will receive friends 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday, January 3, 2021 at Underwood Funeral Home where a funeral procession will form at 12:30 p.m. Monday, January 4, 2021 and proceed to Oakdale Cemetery for a 1 p.m. graveside service. Rev. Kathy Reiff will officiate. COVID precautions will be required. Memorial contributions may be made in Ruth Ann’s memory to Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.
