Russell Eugene Knox, Sr. 74, of Springfield, formerly of Mechanicsburg, died Thursday, April 26, 2012 at Springfield Regional Medical Center. He retired from Rockwell International/Boeing as a lineman after working 33 years. He was also a former associate of Denison Hydraulics in Marysville. He and his family also once owned and operated Susie’s Pizza Shop in Woodstock. He was a member of Mechanicsburg Baptist Church. He loved to dance, watch wrestling and enjoyed hearty food and eating. Above all, he cherished being with his family. He was born September 28, 1937 in Mechanicsburg to the late Clifford C. and Alberta Shurte Knox, and was also predeceased in 1997, by his wife, Sharon Sue Knox; in 1998, by his son, Russell “Rusty” Eugene Knox, Jr.; his siblings, Annabelle Stokes, Rose Fox, Mildred Knox, Wanda Arthur, Marilyn Moore, Tom Knox, Billy Knox, Calvin Knox, Jimmy Knox, Donald Knox, Johnny Knox and Ronnie Knox. He was predeceased by other relatives, including a close nephew, Mike Boyer. He is survived by his loving companion, Coney “Jamie” Rude of Springfield and her two children, Brittany and Jerry Rude; three children, Judy (Louie) Gall of North Lewisburg and John Knox and Joni (Bob) DeLay, both Meridian, Mississippi; eight grandchildren, Kayla Jo Knox, Aaron Gall, Jodi Knox, Johnny Knox, Josh Knox, Jenny Knox, Mandy Purdue and Emily DeLay; 12 great grandchildren; three sisters, Linda Legge of Marysville, Marlea Tatman of Woodstock and Lea (Steve) Boyer of North Lewisburg; two sisters-in-law, Goldie Knox of Richwood, Mozelle “Babe” Sands of Richwood; a brother-in-law, Mike Fox of Florida; his aunt, “Coe” Collins; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Underwood Funeral Home in Marysville. Graveside services will be held 12 noon Thursday at Guy Cemetery in Rosedale. Rev.
