Ron Bayes

Ronald Lee Bayes, age 85, of Marysville, died unexpectedly Thursday, December 10, 2020 at home. He designed and built Blues Creek Golf Course in 1977 and operated the course until his retirement. Prior to opening his golf course, he operated Ron’s Outdoor Center for many years.  Early in his career, he was an associate of Eljer Plumbingware and also owned a horse trail riding academy and boarding stable. Aside from golfing, Ron enjoyed many other recreational sports and loved riding motorcycles and attended many races. A member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, he attended school in Magnetic Springs. A dedicated and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Ron’s main focus and priority in life was his devotion to his family. He was born July 8, 1935 in Columbus to the late Raymond and Thelma Gladys Robinette Bayes. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, James Bayes and Lowell Bayes; a half-sister, Celia Green; and a sister-in-law, Linda Bayes. He is survived by his wife of  66 years, Inez Hayworth Bayes, whom he married June 26, 1954 in Marysville; two sons, Bruce (Tammy) Bayes and Jeff (Kandy) Bayes, both of Marysville; a daughter, Teresa (Roy) Adams of Milford Center; his grandchildren, Wendy (Ron) Haynie, Chandra (Tim) Carnes, Lisa Bayes, Cody Bayes, Ryan Bayes, Shannon (Scott) Nangle and Jessica (Randy) Aun; his great-grandchildren, Keagan, Ethan, Evan, Gabrielle, Landon, Kaiden, Alyssa, Brooklyn and Macklin; his brother, Robert Bayes of Magnetic Springs; his sister, Darlene (Don) Goddard of Richwood; sisters-in-law, Erica and Betty; and many nieces and nephews and other relatives. A funeral procession will form at 2 p.m. Monday, December 14, 2020 at Underwood Funeral Home and proceed to Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Cemetery for a 2:30 p.m. graveside service.  The Rev. Fr. Kevin J. Kavanagh will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Union County Community Care Train.
