Rodney Paul Hesson, age 55, of Marysville, died unexpectedly Monday, November 25, 2019 at his home. He retired from the City of Marysville in 2016 after serving 33 years. He began his public service career as a Marysville volunteer firefighter from 1983 to 1999. In October 1984, he was appointed to the position of parking control officer with the City of Marysville Division of Police. In 1990, he was hired as a part-time police dispatcher and went full-time in 1992 until his retirement. A 1982 graduate of Marysville High School, he was also a former associate of Flying Tigers Airfreight. Rodney enjoyed hunting, weaponry history, competitive target shooting and World War II aircraft memorabilia and engine history. He was a warm-hearted, compassionate and patient public servant. Born April 22, 1964 in Marysville to Robert and Gladys (Early) Hesson, he was preceded in death by his sister, Sheila Hesson and both their parents. He is survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and good friends. A graveside committal with public service honors will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 3, 2019 at Oakdale Cemetery in Marysville. Pastor Wayne Downing will officiate. Rodney enjoyed socializing over a hearty meal and in his honor the public is invited to the American Legion Hall following the burial. Please join his family and friends for a sit-down buffet and fellowship. Takeout food will be available for those who are unable to stay. Memorial contributions may be made to The Rodney P.
