Robert Paul Taylor, age 50, of Marysville, died unexpectedly Saturday, November 17, 2018 at his home. A certified public accountant and an associate of Honda of America for 21 years, he was department manager in the operations accounting department. He was a 1986 graduate of East Mecklenburg High School in North Carolina and received a bachelor’s degree accounting 1990 from University of North Carolina-Charlotte, where he was a member and treasurer of Phi Kappa Sigma fraternity. He was a member of the board of directors with Honda Federal Credit Union. A rugby player of Welsh descent, he was avid fan of the Wales Rugby Team and a former hooker with the UNCW Rugby Team. He loved to cook, brew beer and was a bourbon connoisseur. He will be remembered as a passionate and loving son, husband, dad, grandpa and friend. He will be greatly missed by all those who loved him. He was born May 16, 1968 in Charlotte, North Carolina. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Ruth Ana Gelabert Taylor, whom he married March 9, 1990 in Charlotte, North Carolina; his daughter, Carolyn (Jader Demoraes) Christy of Columbus; his son, Cpl. Geoffrey L. Taylor, USMC, of Camp Lejeune, North Carolina; his grandson, Charles Lee Christy; his parents, Michael and Maureen Taylor of Charlotte, North Carolina; his brother, Gareth (Melissa) Taylor of Indian Trail, North Carolina; a sister-in-law, Maria (Colin) Rolph; a brother-in-law, Peter (Jessica) Gelabert; an uncle, Terry (Helen) Dunn; an aunt, Suzanne Taylor; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives. The family will hold private services.
