Robert L. “Bob” Owens, age 93, of Raymond, died unexpectedly Friday, May 21, 2021 at his home.  An active, lifelong farmer, Bob grew up in Broadway where he graduated from Broadway High School. He and his wife of 72 years, JoAnn, reared their children on their homestead where they raised livestock and grain farmed. Bob was a retired associate of O.M. Scott and Sons and a member of the Scott’s 20-year club. He was a longtime, active member of Millcreek Church of Christ where he served as deacon and where he played the harmonica and JoAnn played the piano.  He was also a former member of Northwestern Lions Club. Bob was known for his ability to “converse with anybody- anywhere”.  He was a frequent visitor to many nursing homes to see his good friends and had a large circle of companions who will miss him dearly. He was born August 3, 1927 in Delaware County to the late Lloyd and Hazel Owens.  He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Opal Flohr and Bernice Phipps.  He is survived by his wife, JoAnn Ballard Owens, whom he married December 5, 1948 at the Ballard home on Eighth Street in Marysville; his children, Sharon (Phil) Rossow of Hobe Sound, Florida, Cindy (Steve Wycoff) Shay of Marysville, Mike (Susan) Owens of Raymond and Nancy (Chris) Eliades of Boynton Beach, Florida; his grandchildren, Rob (Shan) Mackan, Jake Mackan, Liberty (Dan) Muetzel, Kevin (Robyn) Shay, Brian (Alisha) Owens, Nicholas (Maria) Owens, Kathryn (Colin) Butz, Tyler (Lindsay) Wille, Jonathan Eliades and Christopher Eliades; his great-grandchildren, Owen, Chase, Macy, Cami, Ellie, Livi, Avery, Jax and Beckett; his sister, Mabel Boerger; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. The family will hold private services at a later date.
