Richard Lee “Rick” Haynes, age 57, of Marysville, formerly of Jackson, Ohio, died unexpectedly Sunday, December 18, 2016 in Seattle, Washington while on a business trip for his company. He was a ten-year associate of Predictive Services in Cleveland where he worked as an infrared thermographer. He was formerly with OKI in Columbus where he worked for ten years. Early in his career, he was a sound engineer for many bands and music artists, including Sawyer Brown, Tim McGraw, Faith Hill and Diamond Rio. The highlight of his sound career was touring with Patti LaBelle and her entourage. A graduate of Jackson High School, he received an associate’s degree from Hocking Technical College and a bachelor’s degree from University of Phoenix. A train collector, he was fond of model trains. He enjoyed carpentry, especially home remodeling. He loved photography and tinkering with “any” sound project. He was known for his fabulous cooking skills. A lover of animals, especially the family pet dog, “Maxie,” he will be most remembered as an inspirational friend and a gentle, kind and loving husband and son. He was born January 27, 1959 in Fort Lewis, Washington and was preceded in death by his father, Lloyd Haynes; and a sister-in-law, Laura Zhao. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn D. Estep Haynes, whom he married March 23, 2002; a step-son, Shaun (Jami) Simeral of Columbus; his mother, Elizabeth Botzum Haynes of Jackson, Ohio; two brothers, Steven (Natalie) Haynes of Shaker Heights, Ohio and Mark (Sherry) Haynes of Dallas, Texas; a sister-in-law, Barbara Wolcott; three brothers-in-law, Ron and Bobby Estep and Ning Zhao; an uncle, Lee (Audrey) Haynes of Rittman, Ohio; and nieces and nephews, including Browning and Parker Haynes; and other relatives and friends. A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at Underwood Funeral Home where the family will receive friends beginning one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Union County Humane Society.
