Richard Edward “Rick” Floyd, age 71, of Broadway, died Saturday, April 30, 2022 at Grady Memorial Hospital. He was an associate of Hayner Plumbing and also worked as truck driver for many years. He attended Fairbanks High School and attended Marysville Free Will Baptist Church. He enjoyed riding his Honda motorcycle and liked mowing his lawn on his wheelhorse. He restored the classic wheelhorse mower with its wagon. A storyteller, he loved to socialize with friends and relatives. He was born April 26, 1951 in Columbus to the late William E. and Faye Messer Floyd-Hall and was also preceded in death by a son, Richard “Dink” Floyd and his brothers, William “Bud” Floyd and Roscoe “Rockey” Floyd. He is survived by a daughter, Robin (David) Maurer of Charlotte, North Carolina; two grandsons, Dustin Floyd and Bradley Floyd; three great-grandchildren, John G. Roberts, IV and Derrick and Mila Floyd; his siblings, Anamae (Virgil) Hamilton of Kentucky, Oscar (Valory) Floyd of Marysville, Carol (Tom) Hamilton of Marysville, Jennie (Oscar) Blankenship of Marysville, Molly (Bill) Hamilton of Raymond, Darryl (Darlene Brown) Floyd of Marysville and Eva Hildreth of Broadway; an aunt, Jean Messer of Richwood; a sister-in-law, Susan (Jim) Floyd-Kauffman of Saint Paris, Ohio; numerous nieces and nephews, including Bella Hildreth; and many friends, including Connie Blankenship and a dear friend who was like a brother, Rob Zimmer. The family will receive friends 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, May 6, 2022 at Underwood Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday at Broadway Cemetery. Pastor Paul Bogenrife will officiate.
