Randall Kim Francis, age 64, of Norfolk, Virginia, died unexpectedly Wednesday, August 5, 2020. A lifetime mariner, he was a self-contracting tugboat captain in the Chesapeake Bay area for many years. A 1974 graduate of Marysville High School and a graduate of Ohio Northern University, he was a percussionist and loved all kinds of music, especially Bluegrass. He also played the banjo and harmonica. An outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and canoeing and model ships. Following graduation from college, he was a watercraft officer for the State of Ohio. He also studied at the Landing School of Boat Building and Design in Maine. He was born April 1, 1956 to the late Richard and Evadean Hogue Francis. He is survived by his three sisters, Jody Lowry of West Mansfield, Robin F. Bryant of Broadway and Michelle (Tom) Jewell of Marysville; his best friend, Debbie Heddon of Norfolk, Virginia; his friends, Steve Briggs and David Briggs of Rebel Marina, Virginia; and many other relatives and friends. The family will hold a celebration of his life at a later date at York Cemetery in Union County, Ohio. Underwood Funeral Home in Marysville, Ohio is assisting the family.
