Randy E. King, age 69, of Marysville, died unexpectedly Wednesday, August 12, 2020 in the emergency room at Memorial Hospital. He was a graduate of Columbus North Senior High School in Columbus, Indiana and received a degree from Baptist Bible College in Springfield, Missouri. His career included teaching at Landmark Christian School in Richmond, Virginia; serving in the ministry as a pastor at Bible Baptist Church in Williamsburg, Virginia; and working as a maintenance contractor for various employers in Columbus, Ohio. An accomplished musician, he played trombone during high school and for Marysville area pit orchestras. He was passionate about animals and enjoyed caring for his family’s dogs and cats. Above all, he was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was born May 11, 1951 in Columbus, Indiana to the late Raymond and Louise King. He was also preceded in death by grandson, Tucker Simpson; and two brothers, Gerald Howard and Ernie Howard. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Kathy L. Gilliam King, whom he married June, 30, 1970; his children, John King of Marysville, Jill (Scott) Combs, of Marysville and Michelle King of Mount Vernon; his grandchildren Megan Baker, Summer Combs and Dalton Combs; his siblings Maurice King and Cathy King; and many nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held at 12 noon, Saturday, August 15, 2020 at Broadway Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Union County Humane Society.
