Ralph Louis Herman Kleiber, age 88, of Marysville, and a lifelong resident of Union County, died Monday, March 14, 2022 at Hospice at Riverside Kobacker House. He was a retired associate of Westreco Labs where he was a water maintenance manager for 28 years. He also previously worked for Bunsold Plumbing and Heating. A 1952 graduate of Union Local High School, he was a life member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church where he was baptized and confirmed his faith and where he attended grade school. Ralph grew up living on the Ohio Apple Orchard along the Big Darby where his love for the outdoors prompted him to establish his own family farm in Raymond. A veteran of the United States Navy, he served on the USS Impervious, based in Long Beach, California. He enjoyed reading and raising Black Angus cattle. With a love of flying, he and his wife, GrayceAnn, were members of the Hummingbirds Flying Club. They loved spending time at their home in Naples, Florida where he grew many kinds of citrus trees that provided plenty of fruit to share with visitors. He was a member of Union County Singsations and a volunteer for Loving Care Hospice. He was known for his wit, sweet smile and comforting manner. A man of integrity and faith, he will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband and father.. He was born February 11, 1934 in Union County, Ohio to the late Walter and Laura Rausch Kleiber. He was also preceded in death by his sisters and brothers-in-law, Elsie and Earl Schlotterback, Bernette and Loren Nicol and Dorothy McCarty; a brother-and sister-in-law, James and Rosemary Russell; and nephews, Edward Schlotterback and James “Jamie” Russell, Jr. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Grayce Ann Russell Kleiber, whom he married June 14, 1958 at St. John’s Lutheran Church; his daughter, Cheryl (Jon) Fender of Miamisburg; two brothers-in-law, Ray McCarty and Robert “Bob” (Alice) Russell; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be held at 12 noon, Saturday, March 19, 2022 at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church where the family will receive friends beginning at 10 a.m. Rev. Jacob D. Heino will officiate and burial will be at the church cemetery with military honors provided by the Union County Military Funeral Honor Guard. At the family’s request, social distancing and mask wearing is desired.
