Phyllis A. Merriman Curtis, 72, of North Lewisburg, died unexpectedly Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at Memorial Hospital. She worked as a nurse aide for several years and was associated with Milcrest Nursing Center, Sunny Vee in Delaware and Friendship Village of Dublin. A member of Grace Point Sanctuary, she enjoyed crocheting, word search puzzles and fishing. She especially cherished spending time with her grandchildren. She was born January 6, 1945 in Delaware, Ohio to the late Herbert and Ruth Dye Merriman. She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Harold Merriman, Patty Close and Sue Perry. She is survived by her husband, Danny L. Curtis of North Lewisburg, whom she married June 10, 1995; her children, Diana (Rick) Shreve of Richwood, Tammy (John) Smith of Richwood, Nancy (Marvin) Gargus of Joplin, Missouri and Michael (Kandice) McCarty of Marysville; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; a sister, Nancy Fetty of Delaware; a brother, John Merriman of Lima; a step-brother, Terry (Nancy) Landis of Washington Court House; a step-sister, Marie Herron of Washington Court House; two sisters-in-law, Susie Price of Delaware and Ruby Curtis of Ashley; and many nieces and nephews and other relatives. Funeral services will be held at 5 p.m. Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at Underwood Funeral Home where the family will receive friends beginning at 3 p.m. Pastor Mike Mollett will officiate and burial will be held later at Claibourne Cemetery in Richwood.
