Philip Gene Westfall, age 81, a longtime resident of Marysville, Monday, November 26, 2012 at Heartland of Marysville.
A neighborly, hospitable and generous man, he will be best remembered as one who took pride in his home and gave loving care to his family. He retired as advertising manager from AcuSport in Bellefontaine where he worked for 18 years. He was a former associate of O.M Scott and Sons where he was transportation manager for well over 20 years. An outdoorsman, he enjoyed all types of game hunting using bow and arrow and shotguns. His favorite pastime was trap shooting on weekends for many years with good friends. He also found great pleasure in mushroom hunting and fishing. He was known for his meticulous care of small engines and his automobiles. During his retirement, his daily priority was dining with his good friends at Windsor Senior Center. He was a veteran of the United States Army Reserves. A 1949 graduate of North Lewisburg High School, he was born May 2, 1931 in North Lewisburg to the late Charles and Louie Eaton Westfall and was also predeceased by a brother, Donald Westfall and a sister, Mildred Hall. He is survived by his wife of almost 61 years, Alma Lou Smith Westfall, whom he married December 1, 1951 at the Methodist parsonage in Marysville; two sons, Chris Westfall of Brandon, FL and Curtis (Kathryn) Westfall of Marysville; three grandchildren, Erin (Allal) Damiro, Nicholas Westfall and his fiancée, Hannah Chestnut and Olivia Westfall; two great grandchildren, Sophia and Aidan; a brother, James (Phyllis) Westfall of Carson City, NV; and many nieces and nephews and good friends. The family will receive friends 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Underwood Funeral Home, Marysville, where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday. Burial will be beside his parents at Maple Grove Cemetery in North Lewisburg. Memorial contributions may be made to Community Meals Program at Windsor Senior Center.
