Pamela Lynn Markins Whitmore, age 63, of North Lewisburg, died Sunday, December 2, 2018 at Riverside Methodist Hospital. She was a former associate of Scotts Lawn Service in Marysville and Plain City where she was a customer service representative. She was also a former driver for Transportation Research Center. Early in her career, she was an administrative assistant for the Athens County Board of Education and the Athens County Home. A 1973 graduate of Athens High School, she worked as a nursing assistant after graduation. She received a business degree from Hocking Technical College and for many years, she was a member of the Kenny Memorial Wesleyan Church in Athens. She was an avid collector of unicorns and other figurines and a big Ohio State Buckeyes fan. She cherished spending time with her children and grandchildren. Christmas was her favorite holiday because of being able to be close to those she loved and adored. She was born May 5, 1955 in Athens, Ohio to the late Clarence and Mary Trout Markins. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 26 years, Terry Gene Whitmore; an infant brother, Freddy Lee Markins; and a nephew, Lonnie Lemaster. She is survived by her children, Michael Whitmore of Marysville, Jessica (Green) Whitmore-Perry of Marysville and Matthew (Megan) Whitmore of Cincinnati; her grandchildren, Abigail, Haley, Jamie, Tabitha, James, Cheyenne, Grant and Remy; her sister, Bonnie Dearing of Pomeroy; her sisters-and brothers-in-law, Phyllis, Margaret, Joan, Bev, Brenda, Mabel and John; many nieces and nephews; her dog, Pumpkin; and many “adopted” kids who lovingly referred to her as “mom.” Rev. Donald Moceri will officiate funeral services to be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at Underwood Funeral Home where the family will receive friends beginning at 12 noon. Graveside services will be held at 12 noon Thursday at Greenlawn Cemetery in Nelsonville with Rev. Denver Dodrill officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation.
