Minnie Joan Miller

January 19, 2022

Minnie Joan Miller, age 88, of Plain City, died peacefully in her sleep Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at her home. She was a euchre-loving, trivia all-knowing, slot winning, Buckeye fan, sewing expert, carrying in her “Mary Poppins” purse everything one could possibly need – woman who loved her family and friends deeply. She retired from Aetna Insurance and was a former associate of Sanese Services. During her retirement, she continued to work from home making lanyards for American Whistle Corporation for the last 19 years. She loved playing the slots at Scioto Downs, where she took her grandchildren when they turned 21. She “schooled” her grandkids at euchre and games. She was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother, sister and aunt. She was born October 4, 1933 in Meigs County to the late George W. and Dessie Esteline Perry Lowe. She was also preceded in death by two sons, Howard Matthew Thompson and George Bradley Miller; two husbands, Howard Shires Thompson and Donald B. Miller; and all of her siblings, Jean, John Paul, Marjorie and June. On the same day of her death, her favorite cousin, Barbara Pugh, also passed away. She is survived by her children, Michael (Lydia) Thompson of Kentucky, Shelly (Tom) Holmes of Bellefontaine, John (Joyce) Thompson of Circleville and Beth Miller of Cincinnati; her grandchildren, Shana, Anna, Kelly, Krista, Misty, Chris, Samantha, Liz, Brad and Autumn; her great-grandchildren, Harlan, Aila, Mirakel, Riley, Olivia, Logan, Miranda, August, Katie, Cheyenne, Brayson, Kendra, Aaliyah, Praise, Reign, Davae, Messiah and Saniah; and great-great grandchildren; and many other relatives. Funeral services will be held at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, January 25, 2022 at Underwood Funeral Home where the family will receive friends beginning at 3 p.m. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.underwoodfuneralhome.com.
