Michael Robert Bond, age 64, of Marysville, died Sunday, May 3, 2020 at his home. A 1974 graduate of Marysville High School, he received an associate’s degree in applied science with a major in parks and recreation from Shawnee State University. He carried out his professional career at Honda Manufacturing of Ohio and retired in 2008 after almost 30 years. An athlete, Mike was a wrestler in his youth and was a four-year letterman and co-captain of his MHS football team. In addition, he was a member of the National Honor Society and vice-president of his class. An outdoorsman, he had a passion for the environment. He loved fishing and especially cherished hiking, camping and exploring nature with his daughters. He also enjoyed skiing, golfing and target shooting. Most recently, Mike was a Craftsman. He enjoyed carving, painting, and playing the guitar. To those who know him best, he will be remembered as a jack-of-all-trades with an independent soul and a loyal heart.
He was born October 15, 1955 in Columbus, Ohio and was preceded in death by his father, Robert Joseph Bond. He is survived by two daughters, Mary (Jason) Bond of Hilliard and Sarah J. Bond of Chicago, Illinois; two step-grandchildren, Brooklyn and Lukas Bond; his mother, Azelene Hill Bond, of Marysville; his brother, Mark (Marcie) Bond of Florida; his sister, Mindy (Dennis) Stice of Marysville; an aunt, Frances Lawson; a niece, Vanessa (Zac) Engle; nephews, Brock Bond, Matt (Jessica) Stice and John (Catherine) Stice; cousins, Dave Bond, Shelley Shea, Cobey Elmer, Bruce Williamson, Frank Williamson, Tim Hill, Kathy Kleski, Beth Wayand, Debbie Hill, Marsha Hill; ex-wife and mother of his two daughters, Diane Bond Viers; and many other relatives and friends, including Jeff Cyran, Robin Ladd, Julia Morrison and his loving companion of many years, Barbara Boerger Hucle.
Graveside services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, May 9, 2020 at Mt. Herman Cemetery, at the corner of White Stone and County Home Roads. As a family keepsake, Mike’s daughters request that family and friends send video memories of his fun-loving antics and stories that reflect his shenanigans and one-of-a-kind character.
