Michael Leon Grimm, age 74, of Cable, Ohio, died Sunday, February 12, 2023 at his home with his family by his side. He retired from the Ohio State Department of Taxation where he served as an enforcement administrator. Following his retirement he served as an office clerk at Trinity Lutheran Church, where he was a longtime member. He found great joy helping at the church and especially was fond of his camaraderie with Trinity’s students, members and staff. A veteran of the United States Navy, he served aboard the USS Franklin D. Roosevelt and participated on Honor Flight. He was a member of Marysville Public Library’s “Friends of the Library” and served on the community advisory board for the Marysville Journal Tribune. As a resident in Cable, Ohio, he also served on the parks and recreation commission in Wayne Township. A Green Bay Packers and Ohio State Buckeyes fan, he enjoyed fishing, music, reading, taking photos and beating everyone at Jeopardy. Above all, he was a devoted family man and dearly enjoyed his numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and their friends. He was born August 29, 1948 in Columbus to the late Robert and Eula Dean Blain Grimm. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Robert James Grimm and a son-in-law, Samuel Luca. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Candice Jean Stephenson Grimm, whom he married May 11, 1968 at St. Timothy Lutheran Church (now Grace Lutheran); his daughter, Kimberly Luca of Sugar Grove, Ohio; his son, Timothy (Michelle) Grimm of Marysville; his grandchildren, Sean (Samantha) Phelan, Erin (Keith Craft) Fennell, Danielle Luca and Madaline, Grace, Isabella and Luke Grimm; his great-grandchildren, Kasen, Silas, Samuel, Oscar, Fiona and Ayla; his brothers-in-law, William “Bill” (Dorothy) Stephenson and Shawn Stephenson; and nieces and nephews and other relatives. Memorial services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, February 17, 2023 at Trinity Lutheran Church where the family will receive friends beginning at 10 a.m. Pastor Beth Clothier will officiate. Military honors will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Marysville Friends of the Library, Trinity Lutheran Church or Wayne Township Parks and Rec.
