Michael L. Rodenberger, age 69, of Marysville, died peacefully surrounded by his family on Thursday, September 15, 2016 at his home. He was a retired Honda of America associate where he worked 22 years. He was a member of Marysville First United Methodist Church where he served as an usher and was involved in the youth program. In recent years, he was the leader of the Life Group Bible Study. A member of the Kairos, Emmaus and AA communities, he devoted many years to prison ministry at Marion and Madison Correctional Institutes. Along with his dedication to his work and church, he was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was born October 16, 1946 in Massillon, Ohio to the late Kent and Mary Haney Rodenberger. He was also preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth and Donna Smith and a brother-in-law, John R. Rockenbaugh. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Bonnie L. Rockenbaugh Rodenberger, whom he married April 9, 1982 in Dalton, Ohio; his children, Christy (Chris) Miller of Ostrander, Ian (Ellen) Rodenberger of Powell and Mary Catherine Rodenberger of Columbus; five grandchildren, Corbin, Collins and Carly Miller and Lola and McCormick Rodenberger; his mother-in-law, Catherine M. Rockenbaugh of Marysville; his brothers-in-law, Ron (Ginny) Rockenbaugh and Don Rockenbaugh, both of Marysville; a sister-in-law, Teresa Rockenbaugh of Richwood; his nephews, Brodie (Tami) Rockenbaugh, Caleb Rockenbaugh, TJ (Abby) Rockenbaugh and Tracie (Justin) Wills; his uncle, Jim (Wanda) Haney of Unionville, Ohio; numerous loving cousins; and many other relatives and close friends. A memorial service celebrating his life entitled “Take Courage” will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, September 24, 2016 at Marysville First United Methodist Church. Rev. Aaron Brown will officiate. The family will receive friends during a luncheon following the service. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Marysville First United Methodist Church or the Hope Center. According to his wishes, he was a donor to the Ohio State University Department of Anatomy. Underwood Funeral Home is assisting the family.
