Michael A. “Doc” Holliday, 58, of Marysville, died unexpectedly Sunday, December 30, 2012 in the emergency room at Memorial Hospital of Union County. He retired in 2009 from the United States Postal Service where he served as supervisor at Marysville Post Office. Prior to this, he was a postal carrier for 33 years and served the Marysville and Columbus areas. During his retirement, he worked as a part-time “doughboy” at Benny’s Pizza in Marysville. Aside from his family, his greatest loves were fishing, Ohio State athletics, the Cincinnati Bengals, motor sports and rock concerts. He will be most remembered for his unrefined, but endearing sense of humor, his passion for life and his uplifting and fun-loving demeanor. If he wasn’t fishing, he could be found sitting in his favorite recliner watching television or playing video games. He attended Linden-McKinley High School and was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He was born August 31, 1954 in Columbus to the late Howard “Hap” and Mildred “Millie” Kost Holliday. He is survived by his wife of 13 years, Nancy Hudson Holliday, whom he married August 19, 1999 in Marysville; a daughter, Trisha (Pat) Bridger of Pataskala; a son, Connor Holliday of Delaware; a granddaughter, Madison Bridger; two step-daughters, Terra (David) Gilbert of New Carlisle and Ashley (John) Watkins of Bellefontaine; three step-grandchildren, Christina Clifton, Megan Gilbert and Trey Gilbert; a brother, Bill (Debbie) Holliday of Columbus; a sister, Mary (Marvin) Royster of Sunbury; two sisters-in-law, Kathy Stiltner and Lisa Rostorfer; his father- and mother-in-law, Leroy and Tina Hudson of Broadway; his grandmother-in-law, Avis Hudson of Marysville; and his and many other relatives and loving friends, including his special cousin, Barb Gay. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday at Underwood Funeral Home where the family will receive friends 2 to 4 and 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday. In honor of the deceased, callers are encouraged to wear scarlet and grey or Bengals attire. Pastor Jeremy Westbrook will officiate and burial will be at Broadway Cemetery with military honors provided by the Union County Military Funeral Honor Guard. Following the interment, family and friends will gather for food and fellowship at Liberty Township Community Center.
