Metta L. Hildreth, age 82, of Bellefontaine, formerly of North Lewisburg, climbed the stairway to Heaven on Friday, August 16, 2019 at Belle Springs Nursing and Rehab at 10:40 a.m. Metta was a graduate of Perry Zane School. She enjoyed her family and especially enjoyed her great-grandchildren, Lucas and Eleanor. She loved to crochet and read books. Metta had the greenest thumb around and loved tending to her flowers. She was born October 15, 1936 in Ivydale, West Virginia to the late John and Gerri (Lloyd) Woodrum. On March 21, 1957, she married the loved of her life, Arthur Hildreth and after many years of marriage, he passed on December 21, 2004. In addition to her parents and husband, Metta was also preceded in death by two brothers, Jack and John, and two sisters, Sonja and Regina. Metta is survived by two sons, Mark (Connie) Hildreth of Raymond and Robin “Scott” (Angie) Hildreth of Walnut Grove; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; her sister, Dinah (Dave) Dague; a sister-in-law, Mary Barck; and several nieces and nephews. Per Metta’s wishes, there will only be a private burial at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Belle Springs of Bellefontaine and Heartland Hospice Care of Bellefontaine. The family would like to thank the staff at Belle Springs and Heartland Hospice Care for loving our mom as their own. Underwood Funeral Home is assisting the family.
