Mary-Johanna “Jody” Rupright, age 74, of Fairlawn, died of heart failure on Saturday, November 9, 2013 at Akron General Hospice Care Center in Akron. A registered nurse, she worked at Akron General Medical Center and retired in May 1999. She was a 1957 graduate of Marysville High School and received a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Capital University in 1961. She was a member of St. John-St. Paul Lutheran Church in Akron. She played the baritone horn in the Summit Brass Band, the organ for Akron area congregations and the piano for her family’s singing of hymns and carols. Jody’s favorite amusements were her pets, mystery novels, and Buckeye sports. She was born March 19, 1939 in Marysville to the late Philip and Pearl Telthorster Rupright and is survived by her siblings, Michael (Maryellen) Rupright of San Francisco, Kathleen Rupright of Underhill, VT and Timothy (Patricia) Rupright of Fostoria and by cousins, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews. At the family’s request, there will be no services. Interment will take place later beside her parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles at Oakdale Cemetery in Marysville.
