Martin L. Weideman died February 20, 2016, at 96 years. Survived by beloved wife, Barbara of 61 years, brother James (Pittsburgh), father to Joe, Mary Helen Hart, Anne Weideman, Christine (Shaun) Newlon, Eileen Ervin, and John (Heidi). He was predeceased by son James, sister Mary Louise, sister in law, Joan and son-in-law Larry Hart. He was the proud grandfather to Jennifer Hart Kilic (Ahmet), Brian (Kate) Hart, Sean Hart, Molly and Julie Anderson, Sarah (Jeremiah) Matchen, Joe, John, Jessica and Rebecca Newlon, Dean Ervin, Jr. and Charlie Weideman and great–grandchildren, Ilyas and Maya Kilec, Cecelia and Vincent Hart and treasured nieces and nephews from Pittsburgh. He attended The University of Notre Dame, then entered service in the 5th Army Air Corps in the South Pacific during World War II. Martin loved Notre Dame football, wordsmithing, baking bread, sharing jokes, Big Band and Jazz music. We will remember his stories, poems, singing, gratitude for life and forgiving heart.
A Funeral Mass will be offered Saturday 12 p.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 1300 Urban Drive, Columbus. Visitation with the family will commence 90 minutes before Mass at St Anthony. A celebration of his life reception will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul ℅ St Anthony Parish or GiGi’s Playhouse McHenry County, a Down Syndrome Achievement Center, 5404 W.
