Martha Kisamore Phillips

Martha Jane Kisamore Jackson Phillips, age 79, of Marysville, died Friday, February 7, 2020 at The Ohio State University Medical Center. She was a longtime associate of O.M. Scott and Sons and a member of the 20-Year Club. Following her tenure at Scotts, she was a head computer programmer at Wendy’s International in Dublin from where she retired.  A 1958, graduate of Marysville High School, she attended Northwestern High School in Raymond until her senior year.  She was actively involved in local cultural arts and was a founding member of Marysville Community Theater. She also was a member of Marysville Art League.  She was a member of the Stratford Ecological Center in Delaware and attended Congregation Beth Tikvah in Columbus. A lover of animals, especially cats, she was a strong supporter of the Union County Humane Society.  She also enjoyed watching and feeding the birds. She and her late husband, Les, shared the joy of bicycling together, among many musical outlets.  She will be remembered as an independent, strong matriarch.  She was born March 24, 1940 in Licking County to the late Gabriel and Vertie Beard Kisamore.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, Lesley “Les” Kent Phillips; her son, David Jackson; and her siblings, Eva, Audrey, Hurdle, Esten, Herman, Mabel, Katherine, Ruth and Willis. She is survived by her nephew, William Liebhart; two nieces, Marie Taylor and Patty Swindle; a step-son, Lesley Kent Phillips, II and his wife, Barbara Morse; along with several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, February 14, 2020 at Underwood Funeral Home where the family will receive friends beginning at 10 a.m. Following the service, burial will be held at Raymond Cemetery.
