Marlin E. “Buck” Fleming, 73, of Marysville, formerly of Crooksville and Newark, died unexpectedly Monday, November 14, 2011 at Memorial Hospital of Union County. He retired in 1994 from Rockwell International after 36 years of service. During his retirement, he worked for Lynn Orchard in Johnstown for ten years. He was a member of Heath Church of Christ and a member of Mechanicsburg Lodge No. 113 F & AM. A 1956 graduate of Crooksville High School, he was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps Reserves. He enjoyed carving wood ducks and collected vintage model cars. A sportsman, he liked hunting pheasant, rabbit and quail. A dedicated husband, devoted father and lively grandfather, he was passionate about attending his son’s and grandson’s athletic events and his daughter’s music activities. He was born December 4, 1937 in Crooksville, Ohio to the late Shelly and Virginia Zinn Fleming. He was also predeceased in 2008 by a son, Michael J. Fleming; a sister, Corene Rider; and an infant brother, Roger. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Barbara Colbert Fleming, whom he married November 3, 1956; a son, David (Karen) Fleming of Westerville; a daughter, Suzanne (Scott) McGill of Marysville; a daughter-in-law, Christina Medrano Fleming of San Diego, CA; seven grandchildren, Chad (Julie) Moorehead, Derrick Moorehead, Jason Moorehead, Adam (Molly) Fleming, Luke Fleming, Sydney McGill and Molly McGill; two great-grandchildren, Joey and Anna; a brother-in-law, Bill (Pat) Colbert of Crooksville; an aunt, Ina Heskett of McConnelsville; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Underwood Funeral Home, 703 East Fifth Street, Marysville, Ohio. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Marysville Christian Church, Waldo Road, Marysville. The Rev. Clancy C. Cruise will officiate and burial will be at Oakdale Cemetery.
