Margie Acree Gorslene, age 95, of Marysville, died Saturday October 3, 2020. A graduate of Western Kentucky State College, she received a master’s degree from The Ohio State University and was a devoted Buckeye Fan. She was a respected educator for over 30 years in Ohio and Kentucky, specializing in mathematics. Upon retirement, she and her late husband, Jim, began successfully breeding and showing Doberman Pinschers until Jim’s passing. She filled her time with dog show activities, becoming a member of Lakeshore Doberman Pinscher Club, holding offices and directing dog shows. It was then she met number one ranked “Bar Ben’s Shall We Dance”: Dancer, a Vizsla owned by Ann Keil, and their association began in earnest with Margie’s acquisition of the Dancer daughter [Bar Ben’s Last Tango in Paris” Tango [ranked in the top Ten Vizslas]. With the move to Marysville in 1998, accompanied by her friend Ann, Margie bred two all champion litters of Vizslas, while still enjoying the companionship of Dobermans descended from the champion dogs she and Jim produced. Including Chance, Margie’s last Doberman “Ch. Primary Golden Opportunity” who established breed history. She was a revered member of the Doberman Pinscher Club of Columbus Ohio, holding various offices and conducting numerous club sponsored events. She also became a member of the First Baptist Church of Marysville. She was born August 8, 1925 in Green County Kentucky, to the late Thomas Eschal Acree and Lizzie McMahan Acree. She was also preceded in death by her husband in 1989, James G. Gorslene, whom she married July 14, 1962; and her sister Dorothy. Margie is survived by her brother, Ray of Owensboro, Kentucky; and his daughter, Marlissa (George) Wagner of Carlisle, Pennsylvania; her favorite nephew, Tom (Penny) Harrison of Concord Township, Ohio; a step-daughter Laura Schultz of Dublin, Ohio and her son, Robert (Marissa) and their children; and her dear friend and companion for 30 years, Ann Keil. The family will hold private graveside services at a later date. Underwood Funeral Home, Marysville, Ohio is assisting the family.
