Margia Ilene Turner Renner, age 90, of Chuckery, died peacefully Thursday, February 18, 2021 at Edgewater Place in Plain City. A retired educator, she taught for the Fairbanks School system in the elementary grades for almost 30 years. During her retirement, she participated with the Union County Retired Teachers Association and the Fairbanks Alumni Association. She received a bachelor’s degree in education in 1974 from The Ohio State University. A 1948 graduate of Chuckery Darby High School and a member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Chuckery, she served as a substitute teacher for St. Paul School at various times. Margia was a member of Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and was active with Twig 6. She and her late husband, Norman, resided and reared their children on the southern Union County land that grandfather Renner bought in 1893. The farm is now known as an Ohio Century Farm. She and Norman loved to travel the world extensively with a highlight trip to Russia on an agricultural “People to People” tour in 1992. Her primary activities in recent years included reading, book club, tending to her flower garden and cherishing time with her family. She was born June 19, 1930 in Franklin County, Ohio to the late Cyrus and Edna Finch Turner. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Norman H. Renner; a daughter, Linda J. Renner; and all of her siblings. She is survived by her children, Fred (Jane) Renner of Dublin and Barbara Renner and Lee (Elizabeth) Renner, both of Chuckery; her grandchildren, Jonathan (Kim) Renner, Angela Dautartas, Jenn Renner, Kate (Jeff) Kelly, M.D., Anna (Ife) Oyewale, Miriam White, Monica (Josh) Strothers, Luke (Allie) Renner and Nate Renner; her great-grandchildren, Ellie and Lexi Renner, Nora Lee and Bea Strothers, Amelia and Asher White, Emily and Ava Renner and Molly and Henry Kelly; and many nieces and nephews. Private services will be held with burial at St. Paul Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Memorial Hospital Medical Staff Scholarship Fund in care of the Union County Foundation.
