Maenette Jackson Herring, age 87, of Sacramento, California, died Sunday, January 11, 2015 at Carriage Court Assisted Living in Marysville, Ohio. She retired from Sears Roebuck and Co. where she worked for over 20 years in the credit department. During her younger years, she was a clerk/bookkeeper for Broadway Cleaners in Atwater, California. She grew up in Mississippi and resided in various states throughout her life, including Tennessee, Oregon, California, Texas, Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico and Ohio. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Merced, California. She enjoyed house boating, watching her children water ski, square dancing and traveling the United States with her late husband in their motor home. She was born August 13, 1927 in Mississippi to the late Marion Shackleford and Birdie Mae Eubanks Jackson. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Warren Rea Herring, whom she married in Portland, Oregon in 1945; and her two-year old son, Travis Herring. She is survived by a daughter, Kathryn (Tim) Bubenchik of Westerville; her son, James Rea Herring of Fallon, Nevada; her grandchildren, Monica Montero, Maenette Combs, Megan Rowe, Kimberly Ann Butler; five great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Jane Warren; and many nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. The family will hold a Celebration of Life service at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Central Ohio Alzheimer’s Association. Underwood Funeral Home in Marysville, Ohio is assisting the family.
