Mae Streng Rausch

Mae Caroline Streng Rausch, age 93, of Marysville and a lifetime resident of Union County, died Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at Memorial Hospital. A loving homemaker, Mae was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother as her greatest joy came from her family. She was a life member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, where she was baptized on May 13, 1928 and confirmed her faith on April 6, 1941. She was active with St. John’s Ladies Aid and enjoyed participating with the quilting group. A 1946 graduate of Chuckery Darby High School, Mae enjoyed flower gardening and playing cards and found great joy in baking cookies and pies to share that so many will fondly remember. She was born May 1, 1928 in Marysville to the late Gerhard and Lena Rausch Streng. She was also preceded in death on December 14, 1992 by her high school sweetheart and husband of 44 years, LeRoy F. Rausch, whom she married April 25, 1948 at St. John’s Church by the Rev. Henry Allwardt; her daughter, Cindy Rausch Walker; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Frances and Elmer Scheiderer, Bernette and Sarge Chamberlain and Lydia and Harry Vollrath; and a brother-in-law, Norman Greenbaum. She is survived by her daughters, Connie (Ron) Carfrey of Marysville and Nancy (Kevin) Mabry of Marysville; her grandchildren, Carrie (Rev. Derrick) Hurst, Kristin (Joey) Huber, Lindsey (Ben) Patrick, Katie (Jeff) Vogrin, Chelsey (Austin) Hill and Willie (Susan) Walker; her great-grandchildren, Matthew, Lucas and Natalie Hurst, Brody Huber, Wesley, Riley, Whitley and McKinley Patrick, Mabry, Charlie and Pepper Hill, Daisy Mae, Josie and Jeffrey Vogrin; a sister, Marilyn Greenbaum of Irwin; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday, October 25, 2021 at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church where the family will receive friends beginning at 12:30 p.m. Rev. Jacob Heino and Rev. Derrick Hurst will officiate and burial will follow at the church cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John’s Church and School Growing Roots Campaign.
