Lola Jo Rooks, age 72, of Marysville, passed away Thursday, April 15, 2021 at her home surrounded by loved ones. A homemaker and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, she loved to sew, cook and travel. A former realtor, she owned her own flower shop in Chillicothe many years ago. Lola was a member of Marysville Free Will Baptist Church, where she served in many capacities, especially with the children of the church. She was born April 8, 1949 in Columbus to the late Elijah and Anna Mae Thoman Cook and was also preceded in death by her brothers, Bill and Joseph Cook and sisters, Shirley Williamson and Kate Henderson. She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Kenneth K. Rooks, whom she married June 2, 1984 in Pike County; two wonderful daughters, Terri (Bryan) Moore of Waverly and Tracy Bowman of Columbus; her grandchildren, Seth, Nick, Lyndsey, Caleb and Lacey; three great-grandchildren; her sisters, Barb Sexton of Delaware and Roxy Widdig of Waverly; her brother, Elijah “Auddie” (Marilyn) Cook of Piketon; a sister-in-law, Phyllis Cook of Johnstown; her brothers-in-law, Mike (Karen) Rooks of Springfield and Greg Rooks of Covington, Kentucky; and many nephews and nieces and other relatives, including a special nephew whom she considered a son, Bill (Jen) Potts of Cleveland. Funeral services will be held at 5 p.m. Sunday, April 18, 2021 at Marysville Free Will Baptist Church, 280 North Cherry Street, Marysville, where the family will receive friends beginning at 3 p.m. Underwood Funeral Home is assisting the family.
