Lindsey Kay Apple Cain, 59, of Marysville, died Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at Milcrest Nursing and Rehabilitation Center with her husband at her side following a rapid progression of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease. A homemaker and loving and dedicated wife and mother, she enjoyed tracing her family’s genealogy. She was a member of Delaware County Historical Society where she volunteered for over two years, researching and cataloguing artifacts. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Marysville where she served as deacon. Following completion of high school at Delaware Hayes, she married and became an Army wife. They traveled the world, residing in Japan, Germany, West Berlin and throughout the United States. Throughout her travels, she became well-acquainted with various cultures, incorporating them into her life and the maturity of her family. She found elation in cooking and preparing foreign cuisine. Lindsey enjoyed needlepoint and cross-stitch with which she won many awards at fairs. With an extensive knowledge of jewelry, she managed jewelry departments in the military post exchanges and retail stores. A skillful and creative woman of many facets, she built upon her knowledge with daily on-line inspiration. She used this to enlighten and enhance the lives of others. She will be most remembered for her heart-warming smile, sense of humor and optimistic attitude. She was born April 20, 1954 in Delaware, Ohio. She was predeceased by her father, James R. Apple. She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Brent Cain, whom she married March 5, 1970 at First Presbyterian Church in Delaware; her children, Shawna Brock of Hampton, Virginia, Ethan Cain of Grove City and Andrew Cain of Marysville; a grandson, Ryan Brock; her mother, Joanne Apple of Delaware; a brother, David Apple of Jacksonville, Florida; a sister-in-law, Susan (Larry) Jackson of Bristol, Indiana; a cousin, Sandy Cryder of Baltimore, Maryland; and many other relatives and friends. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 12, 2014 at First Presbyterian Church of Marysville. Private interment will be at Oak Grove Cemetery in Delaware.
