Lewis R. Elliott, age 89, of Richwood, died peacefully Thursday, January 17, 2019 at his home with his wife by his side. He was a retired semi-truck driver with Rockhold Stone Quarry in York Center. He was also a former truck driver for Richwood Feed and Grain and Richwood Tile Company, where he also served as manager. Born and raised on Ford-Reed Road, he attended Richwood school and Clairbourne United Methodist Church. He enjoyed fishing and camping and was known as a hard-working family man who deeply enjoyed his grandchildren. He was born June 17, 1929 in Union County, Ohio to the late William and Emma Dyer Elliott. He was also preceded in death by a son, Larry Slemmons; his brother, Walter Elliott; and three nephews, Leroy, Malcomb and Wynn Elliott. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Wilda L. Wurtsbaugh Elliott, whom he married June 17, 1957; his children, William Elliott of Richwood, Tina Poe of Huntsville and Roy (Tessa) Henderson of New Bloomington; his grandchildren, Dustin, Angela and Kaylee; his great-grandchildren, Julianna, Lacy, Daniel and Chloe; and nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. Funeral services with full military honors will be held at 4 p.m. Monday, January 21, 2019 at Underwood Funeral Home where the family will receive friends beginning at 2 p.m. Rev. Dean Henderson will officiate. Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Claibourne Cemetery. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.underwoodfuneralhome.com
