Leon A Kramer

October 29, 1923 - June 15, 2013

Leon A. Kramer, age 89, a lifetime resident of Union County, died Saturday, June 15, 2013 at his home. A farmer all his life, he was a 1941 graduate of Watkins High School. A member of Marysville First United Methodist Church, he was a veteran of World War II and served in the Pacific Theater with the Army Engineer Corps. He was a member of American Legion Union Post 79 and VFW Post 3320. He also was a former member of the Marysville Lions Club and a member of the Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite and Aladdin Shrine. He enjoyed spending many winters in Naples, Florida, fishing and golfing. He especially cherished the camaraderie with the Naples morning pier group. He was born October 29, 1923 in Marysville to the late Ira and Erma Amrine Kramer and was also predeceased by his daughter-in-law, Sandra Kramer; and two brothers, Dale and Leroy Kramer. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, E. Martha Miller Kramer, whom he married February 7, 1948; his son, Myron L. (Anne) Kramer of Sunbury; two daughters, Valerie Kramer of Dayton and Kim (Brad) Sunderland of Marysville; four grandchildren, Ryan Kramer, Ethan (Kacey) Kramer, Bethany (Michael) Blumenschein and Anthony Kramer; a great grandson, Samuel Blumenschein; two sisters, Rose Gordon and Luella (Bob) Conklin, both of Powell; a sister-in-law, Sherry Kramer of Ostrander; and many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends, including Dr. John and Barb Andreas and Bob and Carol Whitman. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Underwood Funeral Home where the family will receive friends 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday. Rev. Denise Turpin will officiate and burial will be at Oakdale Cemetery with military honors provided by the Union County Military Funeral Honor Guard. Memorial contributions may be made to Loving Care Hospice or the Marysville First United Methodist Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
