Larry Frank Franzel, age 69, of Marysville, Ohio formerly of Grand Blanc, Michigan, died peacefully Thursday, August 6, 2020 at his home following a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. An outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also had a passion for cars, especially his Corvette. Above all, he loved being with his family. He was born April 8, 1951 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Ervin Francis and Beverly Ann Brodick Franzel. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Mary L. Fitzgerald Franzel, whom he married November 10, 1972 in Detroit, Michigan; two sons, Scott (Amanda) Franzel of Jasper, Indiana and Steve (Jennifer) Franzel of Powell, Ohio; five grandchildren, Madison, Emerson, Alivia, Beckett and Evelyn; a brother, Glen (Martha) Franzel; four sisters, Terri (Roger) Jones, Cheryl (Kevin) Meyers, Karen (Jerry) Horowitz and Kay Franzel; his mother-in-law, Jane Fitzgerald; his brothers-and sisters-in-laws, Jim (Judy) Fitzgerald, Mike (Colleen) Fitzgerald, Jerry (Joan) Fitzgerald, Terry (Laura) Fitzgerald, Chris (Karen) Fitzgerald and Jane Fitzgerald; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. A Memorial Mass celebrating Larry’s life will be held 12 noon, Friday, August 14, 2020 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 1033 West Fifth Street, Marysville, Ohio 43040. Food and fellowship will follow the mass. Memorial contributions may be made to his son Steve’s “Pelotonia” Account, a charity to help the fight against cancer.
