Kevin Michael McCoy, age 43, of Marysville, died peacefully early Saturday morning, August 6, 2022 at his home with his loving family by his side. A 1996 graduate of Marysville High School, Kevin attended Wright State University. He worked as a radio host for WUCO for several years and continued his disc jockey career throughout his life. A sports enthusiast, he served as Marysville Monarch football equipment manager during high school and was knowledgeable in local and regional sports and NASCAR. Born with spina bifida, Kevin was a paraplegic his entire life. His years in a wheelchair, however, did not hamper his spirit, his fortitude, and his encouragement of others. He didn’t let his physical limitations affect his independence. He raced with “Buckeye Wheelers” as a youth and traveled to England with the US paralympic team. Kevin was a torch bearer as it passed through Marysville for the 1996 Olympics. At the age of 13, he was the youngest participant to race in the Columbus Marathon. In addition to his support of Monarch sports, he was a BIG Ohio State football fan with his Buckeye passion highlighted by a trip to New Orleans for the national championship. He was a member of Palestine Lodge No. 158 F & AM, Scottish Rite and Aladdin Shrine. He was also a member of Union County Shrine Club. He will be most remembered for his love of his close friends, his warm smile and his will to endure many obstacles. He was born August 20, 1978 in Marysville. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Harlond and Annabelle Hays and Donald McCoy and his uncles, John Hays and Ova Hays. He is survived by his parents, Michael “Mick” and Barbara Hays McCoy; his sister, Kelly (John) Curtis of Marysville; a niece, Annabelle; a nephew, Daniel; his grandmother, Priscilla McCoy; several aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends. To celebrate Kevin’s life, memorial services will be held 6 p.m. Friday, August 12, 2022 at the Burnside Family Life Center of Marysville First United Methodist Church.
