Kenneth K Wanamaker

Kenneth K. Wanamaker, 73, of Marysville, died Saturday, July 21, 2012 at Riverside Methodist Hospital. He retired in 1999 from Nestle Research and Development after 35 years of service. A longtime member of Marysville First United Methodist Church, he was also a former member of Marysville Lions Club. A devoted husband, father and papa, he was very active in area youth athletics as his sons grew and coached little league baseball and football. Despite his recent health challenges, he and his wife enjoyed wintering in Florida and traveling. An avid golfer, he was one of the oldest original members of Timberview Golf Club. A member of the Tuesday morning league, he cherished his time at the club with friends and acquaintances. He took yearly charter fishing trips on Lake Erie with his sons and special friends. He was a devoted fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes and Cleveland Browns. He was a graduate of Bucyrus High School, Elkhart University in Indiana and received a bachelor’s degree from The Ohio State University. He was born January 27, 1939 in Bucyrus, Ohio to Merritt Kenneth and Helen Beatrice Heinlein Wanamaker. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Susan Lyons Wanamaker, whom he married December 29, 1961 at Epworth Methodist Church in Marion; three sons, Dan (Tamara) Wanamaker of Portland, Oregon, Dave Wanamaker of Milford Center and Doug (Jenny) Wanamaker of Milford Center; four grandchildren, Chase, Courtney, Morgan and Macy; his brother, John (Linda) Wanamaker of Bucyrus; his brother-in-law, Kirk (Cheryl) Lyons of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; and nieces and nephews; and many good friends. The family will receive friends 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Underwood Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Marysville First United Methodist Church. Graveside services will be held at Thursday at 2:30 p.m. at Oakwood Cemetery, 835 Kaler Avenue, Bucyrus, Ohio 44820.
