Keith Alan Chapman, age 54, of Marysville, passed away Tuesday, April 9, 2019 at his home surrounded by his family following a courageous battle with leukemia. An associate and partner with his father, Ron, of Chapman Excavating since before he even had his driver’s license, he was known state-wide for pond building, basement and driveway construction, grading, gravel hauling and much more in the earth moving industry. Known by those closest to him as “Zeke” or “Pop,” he was a skilled heavy machinery mechanic and “could fix anything.” A 1983 graduate of Marysville High School, he attended Millcreek Church of Christ and loved the outdoors. He enjoyed fishing, mushroom and arrowhead hunting, camping and sprint car racing. He was a loyal Cleveland Browns fan. He was most loyal though, to his friends and his family. He was a deeply devoted husband, dad, grandpa, son, brother and uncle. Keith was born January 10, 1965 in Marion. He was preceded in death by twin grandsons, Colin and Griffin and by a sister-in-law, Lisa Rae Hauser. He is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Tonia Hauser Chapman, whom he married April 7, 1990 in Columbus; his children, Derek (Grace) Chapman of Marysville, Jess (Garrett) Carpenter of West Liberty and Katie Chapman of Marysville; two grandchildren, Ben and Molly Chapman; his parents, Ron and Carolyn Westlake Chapman of Marysville; his mothers-and fathers-in-law, Jim and Libby Hauser of Columbus and Eloise and Bruce Blais of Rhode Island; his siblings, Kim (Tim) Moore of Mechanicsburg, Kevin (Robin) Chapman of Marysville and Kristi (Jerry) Eads of Milford Center; a brother-in-law, Jeff (Lauren) Hauser of Blacklick; his aunts and uncles, Bud and Julia Westlake, Phyllis Ferrell, Sandy and Tom Young, Becky and Gene Drumm, Dee and Roger Shumway and Judy and Bill Wical; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins and other relatives. The family will receive friends 2 to 7 p.m. Thursday, April 11, 2019 at Underwood Funeral Home where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday. Rev. Jack Knox will officiate and burial will be at Broadway Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Nationwide Children’s Hospital in memory of his twin grandsons, Colin and Griffin Chapman.
