Katherine “Katie” Marguerite McConaughy, age 41, of Columbus went to join her Savior on Sunday, March 22, 2020. She died unexpectedly of natural causes at her home. A former associate of NetJets, she served in the company’s information technology department for 17 years. Web design and creative problem solving of computer issues were among her many technological skills. She was a 1996 graduate of E.L. Bowsher High School in Toledo and attended Mt. Vernon Nazarene University. Katie was a former member of Church of the Cross United Methodist Church in Toledo, and she was currently a member of New Life Church, Gahanna Campus. At New Life Church she served as a valuable member of the audio-visual ministry. She participated in Bible studies and women’s Christian conferences and was an avid reader. A lover of music, she played both French horn and piano, was a member of the bell choir in several churches, and enjoyed attending symphony and band concerts. Katie enjoyed playing computer games, board games, card games, and spending time with family. Those who knew Katie admired her generosity, faithfulness, sweet spirit and strength in overcoming challenges. Katie loved the Lord and her family is rejoicing that she is with Him now. She was born July 20, 1978 in Columbus and was predeceased by her grandparents, Darrel and Clasina Borden and Walter and Ruth McConaughy; and by her nephew, Matthew McConaughy. She is survived by her parents, Steve and Diana Borden McConaughy of Marysville; her siblings Scott (Christy) McConaughy of Marysville, Shannon Miller of Marysville, and Christopher (Tara) McConaughy of Columbus; her nieces, Abigail, Betsy and Madilyn and her nephew, Elliott; her uncles and aunts, Richard (Joanne Cermak) Borden, James (Patricia) Borden and Cheryl (Dale) Pickens; a great aunt, Betty (Hank) Zimmerman; a great uncle, John (Gladys) Young; and many cousins, other relatives and friends. Due to the current health crisis, the family will hold private services with interment at Union Cemetery in Columbus. Tentatively, memorial services will be held sometime during the first week of June 2020. The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made in Katie’s name to New Life Church Gahanna at 3690 N Stygler Road, Gahanna OH 43230.
