Kandace “Kandy” Zollars Taylor, age 71, of Daytona Beach, Florida and Marysville, Ohio, died Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at Select Specialty Hospital in Columbus with her family by her side following an extended illness. She retired from the Marysville school system where she was a teacher. Following her retirement, she was a substitute teacher in Ohio and Volusia County, Florida. She received a bachelor’s degree in education from The Ohio State University and a master’s degree in education from Wright State University. She grew up in Uniontown, Belmont County, Ohio and graduated from Union Local High School. She was a member of Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge 1130 where she served as the lodge’s first female exalted ruler. A member of First Presbyterian Church of Marysville, she also held memberships with Marysville VFW Post 3320; AmVets Post 911 Ladies Auxiliary, Port Orange, Florida; Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 452 Indian Lake, Ohio; and Eagles Lodge Aerie 4469, Daytona Beach Shore, Florida. She was an avid golfer and enjoyed spending time with friends and family, especially at Indian Lake and in Florida. She was born November 24, 1947 in Wheeling, West Virginia to the late G. Eugene and Edith Howes Zollars. She was also preceded in death October 2, 2018 by her husband whom she married July 26, 1967 in Flushing, Ohio; her father-and mother-in-law, Wilbur and Kathryn “Kate” Humphrey Taylor; and a brother-in-law, Robert Taylor. She is survived by her children, Jonathan Taylor of Daytona Beach, Florida, Janell (Deryk) McNany of Marysville and Katie (Garrett) Pierce of Marysville; her grandchildren, Taylor, Nicolette and Carmen Ahrns, Lexus Taylor and Peyton Pierce; her great-grandchildren, Liam Clemmer and Kennedy Austin; her siblings, Gene (Bev) Zollars of Westerville and Sue (Tom) Powell of Marysville; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. The family will receive friends 2 to 6 p.m. Monday, December 10, 2018 at Underwood Funeral Home where an Elks memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to The John and Kandy Taylor College Book Allowance Fund to help a deserving college-bound freshman with various classroom expenses.
