Julia Dorothy Holland Wing, age 97, of Marysville, formerly of London, died Tuesday, November 25, 2014 at her home surrounded by her loving family. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she and her late husband, Winston, farmed in Madison County. She lived on the same family “Ohio Century Farm” nearly all her life. She was an elementary teacher for 17 years in the Caanan, Plain City and West Jefferson schools. She graduated from Cedarville College in 1937. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Marysville. She also was a life member of Ohio Retired Teachers Association, Farm Bureau, Madison County Historical Society and served as a volunteer at Madison County Hospital. She cherished times with her family, her church and all things Irish. She was born March 22, 1917 in Madison County, one of eight children and the last of her immediate family, to the late William and Delia Donnelly Holland and was also predeceased by her husband, Winston Wing and her brothers and sisters, John Holland, Elmer Holland, William Holland, Mary Cauley, Katherine DePoy, Margaret Moore and Helen Payne. She is survived by her children, Judith (Charles) Goodrich of Waynesboro, Virginia, David (Phyllis) Wing of Warren, Ohio, James (Mary Jane) Wing of Marysville, Joseph (Patricia) Wing of Avon, Ohio, Stephen Wing of Aurora, Colorado; fourteen grandchildren, Benjamin Bayer, Nathaniel (Jennifer) Bayer, Matthew (Georgina) Bayer, Nicholas Bayer, Michele Wing, Jason (Sarah) Wing, Brian (Jennifer) Wing, Elizabeth Wing, Jonathan (Allie) Wing, Christine Wing, Rachel (Brian) DiMatteo, Timothy Wing, Stephanie Wing and Kendra Wing; nine great-grandchildren, Colleen and Quinn DiMatteo and Juliann, Isaac, Thomas, Avery, Emma, Owen and Liam Wing; a brother-in-law, Richard Payne; and many nieces and nephews and other relatives. The family will receive friends 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Underwood Funeral Home, 703 East Fifth Street, Marysville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 1033 West Fifth Street, Marysville. Rev. David A. Poliafico will officiate and burial will be beside her husband at Maple Grove Cemetery in Mechanicsburg. Memorial contributions may be made to Madison County Historical Society, Memorial Hospital’s Mobile Meals program in Marysville or a charity of choice.
