Judith Ann “Judy” Curry Ohnsman, age 79, of Marysville, died Tuesday, March 17, 2020 at The Ohio State University Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital following a ten-month battle with cancer. An educator for 30 years, she retired from the Marysville Exempted School District where she was a business education teacher at the high school. She served as the business department chair for a number of years and taught the junior vocational block program and other business subjects. Prior to her tenure in Marysville, she was a teacher with the North Union School District. A 1958 graduate of Marysville High School, she received a bachelor’s degree from The Ohio State University and a master’s degree from Wright State University. She was a longtime former member of First Presbyterian Church of Marysville, where she served as elder, deacon and trustee and sang in the church choir. A member of Marysville Vineyard Church, she and her husband, Larry, hosted and led home groups. She was a member of P.E.O. Sisterhood and volunteered at the Hope Center in Marysville. During her retirement, she volunteered at Memorial Hospital where she also served as a contingent secretarial employee. She and Larry loved to travel and journeyed to many destinations throughout the world. Judy deeply cherished walking with her dog, Zoe, and appreciated the outdoors, nature and gardening. She will be most remembered as a faithful Christian servant, a devoted teacher, a dedicated friend and a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Judy was born December 30, 1940 in Alliance, Ohio to the late John Blair and Dorothy Lieder Curry. She is survived by her husband of 36 years, Ellsworth L. “Larry” Ohnsman, Jr., whom she married February 18, 1984; her children, Doug (Laura) Smith of Dublin, Susan (Mac) Greer of South Carolina and Anne (Bill) Edgar of Sylvania; her step-children David (Ann) Ohnsman of Marysville, Valerie (Paul) Wetzel of South Carolina and Alan (Tashi) Ohnsman of California; her grandchildren, Elle (Max) Phelps, JB Smith, Megan Greer, Lainey Greer, Gabby Edgar and Jordan Edgar; step-grandchildren, Nick Ohnsman, Luke Ohnsman, Jared Ohnsman, Abigail Wetzel, Andrew Wetzel and Neko Ohnsman; her sister, Betsy (Ken) Schooff of Chapel Hill, North Carolina; a sister-in-law, Rebecca “Becky” (Jim) Harrington of Apple Valley, Ohio; and nieces and nephews and many friends. Tentatively, memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 5, 2020 at Underwood Funeral Home where the family will receive friends following the service. Private interment will be held at Oakdale Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Union County Humane Society or Marysville Vineyard Church.
