Juanita Vigar

Juanita M. Perry Vigar, age 93, of Marysville, died peacefully Tuesday, May 18, 2021 at the home of her daughter in Ostrander. She retired in 1988 as food service supervisor from Memorial Hospital of Union County where she worked in the dietary department for 25 years. She also operated her own sewing service and made and altered numerous outfits and bridesmaid dresses for family and friends. Juanita enjoyed handicrafts and liked selling her goods in craft shows.  She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and formerly served on the church board for three years and participated with AWANA and Bible school and helped prepare many church meals. With her dietary background, she was instrumental in helping plan the present kitchen of the church. Above all, she was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother. She was born April 19, 1928 in Delaware County to the late Maurice “Ray” and Cleo Calvert Perry.  She was also predeceased by her husband, Harold “Kay” Vigar; a daughter, Kathleen Lynn Vigar; her sisters, Alice “Jeanette” Wise, Ruth “Ann” Britton and Margaret “Marge” Barker; her brother, George A. Perry; and a granddaughter, Mary Beth Shultz. She is survived by her children, Roger K. (Pam) Vigar of North Carolina, Linda L. Davis of Ostrander and Michael R. (Danielle) Vigar of Marysville; her grandchildren, Andy (Velma) Vigar, Amy Wilkinson, Russell Karnes, Matthew (Jamica) Davis, Candy Vigar and Tammy Vigar, great-grandchildren, Lauren, Ethan, Allison, Austin, Mason, Caleb, Wyatt, Taylor, Tyler, Daniel, Emma, Hannah and Sadie; a great-great grandson, Brooks; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.  Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 22, 2021 at Underwood Funeral Home where the family will receive friends beginning at 9 a.m. Rev. Matt S. Schiesser will officiate and burial will be at Oakdale Cemetery beside her husband. Memorial contributions may be made to Mobile Meals in care of the hospital.
