Joyce B. Weber Milliron Weber

Joyce B. Milliron-Weber, age 80, of Ashland, died peacefully Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at Hospice of North Central Ohio in Ashland. A banking associate nearly all her life, she retired from the Huntington National Bank on April 1, 1998, ending a 44-year career. She started as a teller in May 1954 with the privately owned The Citizens Bank in Cardington. It later became the Peoples Bank and now, Chase Bank of Mansfield. Before joining Huntington, she moved to Ashland and started work at the Farmers Bank in December 1970. Her career involved all aspects of banking, including teller, installment and commercial loan clerk, credit card manager, assistant cashier and loan supervisor, college office manager and student loan officer, banking office manager and loan office of the main office. She completed a variety of banking courses through the American Institute of Banking and Huntington Institute of Banking. She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church, where she formerly served as secretary of the church council and was active in various other committees. Her community involvement included Little Brothers/Little Sisters of Ashland County where she served as secretary, treasurer and president. She also was secretary for the Altrusa Club, special activities coordinator for the American Cancer Society and chairman and co-chairman of the retail business division for the United Way of Ashland County. She served as treasurer of the Ashland City County Council and secretary of the City Retention Commission. She also worked with the special activities committee for the Ashland Area Chamber of Commerce. After retirement, she worked part-time in the secretary’s office during the Ashland County Fair. She also worked at Nardini’s for John and Peg Edwards. She was a 1954 graduate of Cardington High School and was a resident of Morrow County until moving to Ashland in 1970. Above all, she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt and will be remembered as a vibrant, energetic and outgoing soul. She was born August 25, 1936 in Cardington to the late Floyd D. and Dorothy A. Sparks Underwood. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Clem Milliron on October 9, 1978 and by her husband, Fred H. Weber on July 27, 1998; her brother, Dale J. Underwood; and a step-son, C. A. Milliron. She is survived by her son, Todd (Susie) Snyder of Ashland; her grandson, Garrett Snyder; her step-children, Bonnie (Jim) Hughes, Tina Milliron, Lee (Robert) DeMattia; her step-grandchildren, Lindsay Bates, Nick (Heather) Drushel, Kelli Milliron, Nick (Laura) Milliron, Olivia DeMattia and Robert DeMattia; three step-great grandchildren, Lexi Drushel, Graham Milliron and Makenna Milliron; a brother, Noel D.(Jackie) Underwood of Marysville, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Nadene Underwood of Cardington, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends. The family will receive friends 2 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Heyl Funeral Home in Ashland. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Ashland Cemetery. A luncheon will follow the cemetery prayers at Ashland Elks Lodge No. 1360. The family requests in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of North Central Ohio or Peace Lutheran Church. Her nephew, Scott Underwood of Underwood Funeral Home, is assisting the family in coordination with Heyl Funeral Home of Ashland.
