John R. “Bob” Guisinger, 76, of Marysville died Monday, August 5, 2013 at Mount Carmel St. Ann’s Hospital in Westerville. He was born October 1, 1936 in Union County to the late William and Lillian “Marjorie” Thomas Guisinger. He was retired from Ranco in Plain City where he worked for over 30 years. During his retirement, he was an associate of PTI, where he was a driver and shuttled train crews to various destinations for the railroad. Following his attendance from Marysville High School, he worked for auto service garages in Columbus, and later worked for O. M. Scott and Sons. He enlisted in the United States Army, attended basic training at Ft. Leonard Wood in Missouri, and then served in the corps of engineers in Korea. He was a former member of Marysville Moose Lodge and Marysville Eagles Lodge. He enjoyed fishing and was an avid bowler. As a league bowler in Champaign and Union counties, he won many championships and was a qualifier for the pro bowler’s tour. He loved to travel and journeyed throughout most of the United States with his wife. A man with an unbound sense of humor, he will be remembered as a family “anchor” – a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by his siblings, Carol Gabriel, Dot Bennington, Bill Guisinger and infant sisters, Rose and Loretta; and a granddaughter, Ashley Jean Magsig. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Janice Silverthorn Michel Guisinger, whom he married January 10, 1983; his children, Joanne (Jeff) Young of Richwood, Jimmy Guisinger of Milford Center; his step-children, Aaron (Teal) Michel, Meg (Dirk) Michel-Railsback, John (Kathy) Michel, Suzi (Ty) Clarridge, Stephanie Michel, Matt (Jenny) Michel; his grandchildren, Scott (Amy) Young, Zachary Young, Ryan (Brook)Guisinger, Logan Guisinger, Katie Crocco, Andrea (Russell) White, Justin (Jessica) Michel, Merielle “Maui” Michel, Max Michel, Casey Clarridge, Cara Clarridge, Chad (Melissa) Clarridge, Andy (Heather) Clarridge, Dana Magsig, Beth (Michael) Craig, Elias Michel and Mia Michael; 15 great grandchildren; two sisters, Judy Hanson and Pat Massie; brothers and sisters-in-law, Pat Biddle, Jo Battles, Judy Silverthorn and Jack Silverthorn; and many nieces and nephews and other relatives and good friends. Calling hours will be 3 to 7 p.m. Friday at Underwood Funeral Home where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday.
