John G. “JP” Phillips, Jr., age 61, of Marysville, passed away on March 6, 2019 after a 17-month battle with cancer. He graduated from Marysville High School in 1975. JP retired from Parker Industries where he was a hydraulics machinist. He was an avid bowler, having earned one 300-game ring and one 299-game ring. He was a Trustee of his much-loved Marysville Eagles Lodge, Aerie 3506 where he devoted much of his time in retirement. He also enjoyed the Ohio State Buckeyes, Cleveland Browns, Chicago Cubs, golfing and fishing. He was born July 29, 1957 in Columbus Ohio to the late John G. “Jack” and Barbara Jean Stinson Phillips. He is survived by his son, John G. “BJ” (Stephenie) Phillips, III of Delaware; his brother David (Lisa) Phillips of Marysville; his sister, Brenda (Ralph) Mason of Powell; and many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. A memorial service celebrating JP’s life will be held 7 p.m. Monday, March 11, 2019 at Underwood Funeral Home where the family will gather to receive friends beginning at 5 p.m. A private burial will be held at a later date.
