John Curtis Taulbee, Sr., age 78, of Marysville, died Saturday, June 23, 2018 at his home surrounded by his loving family. For over two years, he maintained his determination and positive attitude despite cardiac and cancer complications. He retired from the safety department at Honda of America after an association of 20 years. He was a former supervisor at Rockwell International and a former lineman at Dayton Power and Light and Union Rural Electric. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and served in the United States and in Turkey during the Vietnam era. He was a member of American Legion Union Post 79, VFW Post 3320 and Indian Lake Loyal Order of Moose. He was a member of Marysville First United Methodist Church where he helped in various capacities, including refinishing the sanctuary’s communion rails and helping in the kitchen for many activities. A volunteer for mobile meals at Memorial Hospital, he was an avid golfer and volunteered at the Muirfield Memorial tournament. Known as a skilled craftsman, he liked woodworking and loved restoring classic cars. A longtime supporter of Marysville High School athletics, he was a big Ohio State fan and journeyed with his wife to the Rose, Fiesta and Orange Bowls. They also traveled together to destinations overseas and toured the United States. A devoted family man, he was dedicated in attending his grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s sporting events and school activities. He was born October 23, 1939 in Paris, Kentucky to the late John M. and Ella Jane Morris Taulbee. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Charlene “Cookie” Appel Taulbee, his son, John C. Taulbee, Jr. and his siblings, Vanessa Prater, James Taulbee, Bonnie Alexander and Julian Taulbee. He is survived by his wife of 16 years, MarJeanne Meyer Morrison Taulbee, whom he married January 11, 2002; his daughters, Joan Andrews of Marysville, Jenny (Dan) Kibbey of Raymond and Jill Taulbee of Massena, New York; a step-son Vernon (Jennifer) Morrison of German Village; his grandchildren, Jessica (Jeremy) McCreight, Philip (Jesse) Taulbee, Julie (Shawn) McCreight, Jarid Andrews, Tori Andrews, Allie Andrews, Mandy (Vaughn) Young, Joe (Erin) Kibbey, TJ Kibbey, Heather (Josh) Zimmerman, Katie (Ross) Humes and Maggie Morrison; his great-grandchildren, Johnalynn, Josalyn, Dylan, Rowan, Evie, Cooper, Kylie, Connor, Braxton, Jacob, Ethan, Marcus, Noah, Lucas, Rylie, Carson, Jase; his sisters, Frances Schroer of Russells Point and Lou (Dean) Yocum of Delaware, Ohio; his brothers-and sisters-in-law, Carl (Wava) Meyer, Charles (Nancy) Appel, Ginny Sachs, Mary Lynn Johnson; and many nieces and nephews, including his god-son, Zach Johnson. The family will receive friends 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at Underwood Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at Marysville First United Methodist Church. Rev. Aaron Brown will officiate and burial will be at Oakdale Cemetery. Full military honors will be provided by the Union County Military Funeral Honor Guard.
